Biography

Hartley Power was an American-born British film and television actor, best known for his appearances in classic films. He made his Broadway debut in 1922 in *Dolly Jordan*. Among his most notable roles was that of Sylvester Kee, a ventriloquist nearly killed by rival Maxwell Frere over his dummy's "affections," in the 1945 film *Dead of Night*. He also appeared as Mr. Hennessy, the head of a news agency, in *Roman Holiday* (1953), starring Gregory Peck.
