Helen Virginia Horton was an American actress born in Chicago. She started her career in New York City before marrying and moving to an area near London. There, she became known for her work in British television, radio, and theatre, while raising three children. Horton is best remembered for her voice role as "Mother," the ship's computer, in the 1979 science fiction film *Alien*. This role marked one of the most notable performances of her career.
