Hunter Schafer is an American actress, model, and transgender rights activist. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, she was assigned male at birth and transitioned as a child. Schafer gained public attention for her role in a 2016 lawsuit challenging North Carolina's Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act, commonly known as the "bathroom bill," which restricted transgender individuals from using public restrooms aligned with their gender identity. Her advocacy work earned her a spot on Teen Vogue's "21 Under 21" list in 2017.
