Ian Fang

Ian Fang is a Chinese actor based in Singapore and was named as one of the 8 Dukes of Caldecott Hill. He gained attention for his portrayal of a student who lost his grandmother and struggled to survive in the 2013 drama *Don't Stop Believin'*. His performance earned him the Best Newcomer Award at the annual Star Awards Ceremony. Ian also rose to fame with a large fan base after starring in the 2011 drama *On the Fringe*, and the cast later appeared in the film *Imperfect*. He has received recognition for his acting skills, having been nominated for Best Supporting Male Actor for five consecutive years. He was cast as the main lead in the film *Goodbye Mr Loser*, which received positive reviews. At 30, Ian launched a streetwear label called First Attempt XIX. He is a multi-talented artist who writes his own lyrics and raps, releasing two singles—"1st Attempt" in 2016 and "Still Me" in 2017. Ian also hosted variety programs that highlighted challenging professions around the world. He made his directorial debut in 2018 and was nominated for Best Director in a short film at the 2019 short film ceremony in Singapore.

Ian was born in Shanghai, China, and moved to Singapore in 2002. He attended Stamford Primary School, Bendemeer Secondary School, and graduated from Republic Polytechnic. He made his acting debut in the police drama *C.L.I.F.* in 2011, playing a wealthy teenager who gets into trouble after orchestrating a series of bombings alone.

In 2012, Ian appeared in the film *Imperfect* and also starred in *Show Hand* alongside Christopher Lee and *Don't Stop Believin'*.

In 2013, Ian won the Best Newcomer award at Star Awards 2013. He also hosted his first travelogue, *My Working Holiday*, where he traveled to different countries to work in exchange for food and lodging, earning a nomination for Best Info-Ed Host at Star Awards 20.

In 2014, Ian played a lead role in *Channel U, Served H.O.T.* and appeared in the basketball-themed film *Meeting The Giant*, directed by Tay Ping Hui.

In 2016, Ian was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at Star Awards 2016 for his role as Chen Hao Wei in *Tiger Mum*, a drama that won Best Drama in 2016. He also released his first rap single, "1st Attempt", featuring vocals from Sylvester Sim.

In 2017, Ian was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at Star Awards for his role as Lin Zi Jie in *The Dream Job*. He also released his second single, "Still Me", featuring Desmond Ng.

In 2018, Ian was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at Star Awards for his role as Shuai Ge in *Till We Meet Again*.

Ian has been listed in the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes at Star Awards in 2015 and 2017.
