Boris the Bear is a fictional comic book character who appeared in various titles from 1986 to 2008. The series emerged as a reaction to the popularity of anthropomorphic animal comics, following the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 1984. Boris is depicted as a bear who becomes fed up with the trend and sets out to violently eliminate these comics in a style reminiscent of 1980s action films like Rambo. In subsequent issues, Boris battles parodies of well-known franchises such as Transformers, Marvel Comics, Swamp Thing, and Elfquest. Over time, the series evolved to include more character-driven narratives.
