Biography
Jan Mark was a British writer who made significant contributions to children's literature, having authored over fifty novels, plays, and short stories. She received notable recognition for her work, including the Carnegie Medal from the Library Association, which is awarded for the best children's book by a British author. Mark won the medal twice: first for *Thunder and Lightnings* in 1976 and later for *Handles* in 1983. She was also highly commended as a runner-up for the Carnegie Medal in 1980 for *Nothing to Be Afraid Of*. Her writing was widely appreciated for its depth and appeal to young readers.
