Biography

Jane Seymour became Queen of England as the third wife of King Henry VIII, marrying him on 30 May 1536. She followed Henry's second wife, Anne Boleyn, who was executed for alleged adultery and failure to produce a male heir. Jane gave birth to Henry's only surviving son, the future King Edward VI, but died less than two weeks later due to postnatal complications. She was the only wife of Henry VIII to be given a queen's funeral, and upon his death, Henry was buried alongside her remains in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.
