Biography

Janet R. Maslin is an American journalist known for her work as a film critic for *The New York Times* from 1977 to 1999, during which she served as chief critic for the last six years. She later transitioned to a role as a literary critic for the newspaper from 2000 to 2015. In 2000, Maslin co-founded the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York, and currently serves as president of its board of directors. Her career has been marked by influential film and book reviews, and she remains active in promoting cinematic arts through her work at the film center.
