Biography

Jasmine Chen is a jazz singer and songwriter from mainland China. She was born in Liaoning province and began studying classical music in England in 2000. In 2003, while studying at Leeds College of Music, she formed her first jazz band, serving as both band leader and singer. She graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2004 with honors, majoring in classical piano performance. In 2005, Jasmine returned to China and launched her singing career in Shanghai, becoming one of the country's leading figures in the jazz scene. Her musical style blends Western jazz with Chinese musical elements, introducing Chinese folk and traditional music to Western audiences while also bringing Western jazz to Chinese listeners. She performs in various venues around the world, including the Shanghai jazz club "JZ Club" and the Netherlands' Northsea Jazz Festival.
