Biography
Jerry Lee Lewis was an influential American pianist, singer, and songwriter, known as "The Killer" and celebrated as "rock 'n' roll's first great wild man." A pioneer in rock and roll and rockabilly, Lewis began his recording career in 1952 at J&M Studio in New Orleans and made early recordings at Sun Records in Memphis in 1956. His 1957 hit "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" brought him international fame, following earlier success with "Crazy Arms," which sold 300,000 copies in the Southern U.S. Lewis continued to dominate the charts with hits such as "Great Balls of Fire," "Breathless," and "High School Confidential." In the 1960s and 1970s, he transitioned to country music, maintaining his status as a major figure in American music.
