Biography

Jill Esmond was born on January 26, 1908 in London, England, UK. She first gained attention at age 23 in *The Skin Game* (1931), which marked her film debut. She quickly established a consistent presence in cinema, appearing in three more films in 1931 and five additional films in 1932. One notable role was in *State's Attorney* (1932), where she played "Lillian Ulrich." She married Laurence Olivier in 1930, and her absence from the screen between 1934 and 1941 may have been due to her marital responsibilities. After her divorce from Olivier in 1940, she returned to acting with *Random Harvest* (1942), appearing in five films that year, though not at the same pace as her early 1930s output. Her final film was *A Man Called Peter* (1955). Jill Esmond died on July 28, 1990 in London at the age of 82.
