Biography

Jimmy Yuill is an actor born in 1959 in Golspie, Scotland. He became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and later joined the Renaissance Theatre Company. Yuill has appeared in numerous films directed by Kenneth Branagh. His most recent role was as Chief Constable in *The Raven*, alongside John Cusack. He also served as music composer for *A Midwinter's Tale* and *Swan Song*. While the majority of his acting career has been in theatre, he has also portrayed police officers on television. He is best known for his role as Doug Kersey in the British television series *Wycliffe*. In June 2006, Yuill made his first appearance in *EastEnders* as the recurring character Victor Brown. In October 2007, he took on the lead role of Creon, King of Thebes, in Sophocles' *Antigone* at The Tron Theatre in Glasgow. In 2010, he was nominated for Best Male Performance for his role in a play adaptation of *The Testament of Cresseid* by the Critics Award for Theatre in Scotland.
