Biography
Joel Daniel Coen is an American filmmaker who has collaborated extensively with his brother Ethan Coen. Together, they have directed, written, edited, and produced many well-received feature films. Among their early works are *Blood Simple* (1984) and *Raising Arizona* (1987), which helped define their distinctive style combining dark humor with complex narratives. Additional significant films from their career include *Miller's Crossing* (1990), *Barton Fink* (1991), and *Fargo* (1996), all of which received critical acclaim and achieved commercial success.
The Coen brothers expanded their range by tackling various genres in films such as *The Big Lebowski* (1998), *O Brother, Where Art Thou?* (2000), and *No Country for Old Men* (2007), which won four Academy Awards. Their later projects include *Burn After Reading* (2008), *A Serious Man* (2009), *True Grit* (2010), *Inside Llewyn Davis* (2013), *Hail, Caesar!* (2016), and *The Ballad of Buster Scruggs* (2018).
