    Biography

    Per Johan Hilding "John" Elfström was a Swedish film actor who appeared in more than 120 films. He is best known for his role in the Åsa-Nisse film series. Elfström primarily performed in light-hearted comedies, though he also took on more serious roles. He appeared in *Music in Darkness* (1948), directed by Ingmar Bergman, where he played a blind worker, and in *One Summer of Happiness* (1951), directed by Arne Mattsson, in which he portrayed an unpleasant priest. Elfström was born in Ovansjö (now part of Sandviken Municipality, Sweden), grew up in Aspås, and died in Täby.
