Biography

John Lurie is an American musician, painter, actor, director, and producer known for his eclectic career in the arts. He co-founded the avant-garde jazz ensemble the Lounge Lizards and has contributed to a wide range of creative projects. Lurie has acted in 19 films, including *Stranger than Paradise* and *Down by Law*, and has composed and performed music for over 20 television and film works. He also produced, directed, and starred in the television series *Fishing with John*. In 1996, his soundtrack for *Get Shorty* was nominated for a Grammy Award. His album *The Legendary Marvin Pontiac: Greatest Hits* has received praise from critics and fellow musicians.
