Biography

John War Eagle, born John Henry St Pierre on 24 September 1901 in Wagner, South Dakota, was a Yankton Sioux actor who worked in film and television. He was raised on the Yankton Indian Reservation and became one of the early Indigenous actors to appear in Hollywood productions during the early‑to‑mid‑20th century. Although detailed records of his filmography are limited, War Eagle’s work contributed to increased representation of Native American actors in the entertainment industry.
