Biography

Jonathan Murray Chu is an American filmmaker known for directing *Crazy Rich Asians* (2018), a romantic comedy that marked one of the first major Hollywood films to feature a predominantly Asian cast. His work on the film was celebrated for its cultural significance and box office success. Chu later directed the two-part fantasy musical *Wicked* (2024) and *Wicked: For Good* (2025), an adaptation of the popular stage musical. For his direction of *Wicked*, he received the National Board of Review Award for Best Director and the Critics' Choice Award for Best Director.
