Biography

Joonas Viljami Suotamo is a Finnish actor and former professional basketball player, best known for portraying Chewbacca in the Star Wars film series. He first appeared in the role as a body double for Peter Mayhew in *Star Wars: The Force Awakens* (2015), later becoming the principal performer for Chewbacca in *Star Wars: The Last Jedi* (2017), *Solo: A Star Wars Story* (2018), and *Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker* (2019). Suotamo also appeared as Lurch in the second season of the Netflix series *Wednesday*.
