Biography
Justin Simien is an American filmmaker, actor, and author known for his work in independent cinema and television. His debut feature film, *Dear White People*, premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent. The film, a satirical drama exploring race relations on a predominantly white college campus, was later adapted into a Netflix series of the same name, which aired from 2017 to 2021. Simien has been recognized for his emerging talent, including being named to Variety's 2013 "10 Directors to Watch" list.
