Biography

Kanwarjit Paintal, commonly known as Paintal, is an Indian actor and comedian who began his career in comedy before shifting to acting instruction. Born into a Sikh family in Tarn Taran, Punjab, he spent his early years in Sadar Bazaar, Delhi. Paintal studied at the Film and Television Institute of India and became Head of the Acting Department there in 2008. He relocated to Bombay in 1969 and worked in both film and television. He is recognized for his portrayals of Shikhandi and Sudama in B.R. Chopra's "Mahabharat," while his brother, Gufi Paintal, played Shakuni in the same series. His son, Hiten Paintal, is also an actor who has appeared in films including *Dil Maange More* (2004) and *Bachna Ae Haseeno* (2008).
