Biography

Kathleen Alice Mattea is an American country music and bluegrass singer who has been active since 1984. She has charted over 30 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including four No. 1 hits: "Goin' Gone," "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses," "Come from the Heart," and "Burnin' Old Memories." Mattea has released 14 studio albums, two Christmas albums, and one greatest hits album, primarily through Mercury Records Nashville, with later releases on Narada Productions, her own Captain Potato label, and Sugar Hill Records. She has earned five gold and one platinum certification from the RIAA.

A two-time Grammy Award winner, Mattea won in 1990 for "Where've You Been" and in 1993 for her Christmas album *Good News*. Her musical style blends traditional country, bluegrass, folk, and Celtic influences. She has collaborated with artists such as Dolly Parton, Michael McDonald, and Tim O'Brien, as well as her husband, Jon Vezner. Mattea was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2025.
