Biography

*Kim Gordon* is a documentary film about Kim Althea Gordon, an American musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the bassist, guitarist, and vocalist of the alternative rock band Sonic Youth. Born in Rochester, New York, and raised in Los Angeles, Gordon pursued art at Otis College of Art and Design before moving to New York City to begin an art career. There, she co-founded Sonic Youth with Thurston Moore in 1981. The band released six albums on independent labels before signing with DGC Records in the early 1990s. Gordon also co-founded the musical project Free Kitten with Julia Cafritz in 1993. The film explores her influential career in music and art.
