Biography

Kim Thompson (born April 21, 1956, in San Francisco, California) was an American comic book publisher, editor, and writer best known for his work with Fantagraphics Books. He co-founded Fantagraphics in 1976 with Gary Groth and later became a key figure in the alternative comics scene. Thompson was instrumental in publishing the works of European cartoonists such as Enki Bilal, Joost Swarte, and Raymond Briggs, helping to introduce international comics to American audiences. He also edited the acclaimed "Cerebus" series by Dave Sim and was a longtime editor of the "Fantagraphics Annual." Thompson passed away on April 13, 2013, in Seattle, Washington.
