Biography

Kirk Alyn was an American actor best known for portraying Superman in the 1948 film serial *Superman* and its 1950 sequel *Atom Man vs. Superman*, making him the first actor to play the DC Comics character in live-action. He also appeared as the titular character in the 1952 *Blackhawk* movie serial, another DC Comics hero. Later in his career, Alyn played Sam Lane, the father of Lois Lane, in the 1978 film *Superman*. His performances in these roles established him as a significant figure in early Superman film history.
