Biography
Kon Ichikawa was a Japanese film director and screenwriter recognized for his diverse and stylistically varied body of work. Among his notable films are the anti-war dramas *The Burmese Harp* (1956) and *Fires on the Plain* (1959), the critically acclaimed documentary *Tokyo Olympiad* (1965), which won two BAFTA Film Awards, and the historical revenge film *An Actor's Revenge* (1963). His 1959 film *Odd Obsession* earned the Jury Prize at the 1960 Cannes Film Festival. Ichikawa's career demonstrated his ability to navigate multiple genres with skill and depth.
