Biography
The sixth season of *American Idol* premiered on Fox as a two-night, four-hour special on January 16 and 17, 2007, and concluded on May 23 of the same year. Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson returned as judges, with Ryan Seacrest once again serving as host. The season saw a record 74 million votes cast in the finale and a total of 609 million votes throughout the season. Jordin Sparks was crowned the winner, and Blake Lewis finished as the runner-up. This season marked the first time *American Idol* was not syndicated under the Rewind package.
