Lucy Hutchinson was an English translator, poet, and biographer, best known for being the first person to translate the complete text of Lucretius's *De rerum natura* into English verse. She completed this significant literary work during the Interregnum period (1649–1660), a time of political and social upheaval in England following the execution of King Charles I. Hutchinson's translation is notable for its poetic quality and fidelity to the original Latin text, reflecting both her intellectual capabilities and the cultural climate of 17th-century England.
