Biography

Lynn Loring began her career as a child actress, appearing on CBS’s anthology series *Studio One* at age six in 1948 and starting television commercials at seven, where she was called “The Junior Set’s Betty Furness.” From 1951 to 1961, ages six through sixteen, she portrayed Patty on the soap opera *Search for Tomorrow*. As a young adult she made guest appearances on series such as *Playhouse 90* (1956), *Hallmark Hall of Fame* (1951), *The Defenders* (1961) and *The Big Valley* (1965). After focusing on domestic life, Loring returned to the industry in 1979 as casting director for the TV movie *The Last Ride of the Dalton Gang* (“Raid on Coffeyville”). She then moved into producing, working for several years in a partnership with Aaron Spelling. In the late 1980s she became president of MGM/UA Television Productions, making her, while still in her forties, one of the first women to hold such a senior position in Hollywood.
