Biography

Madge Dorita Sinclair was a Jamaican actress known for her work in film and television. She gained recognition for her roles in *Cornbread, Earl and Me* (1975), *Convoy* (1978), *Coming to America* (1988), and the TV series *Trapper John, M.D.* (1980–1986). She also appeared in the ABC miniseries *Roots* (1977). Sinclair was a five-time Emmy Award nominee and won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1991 for her role as "Empress" Josephine in *Gabriel's Fire*.

In addition to her live-action roles, Sinclair provided the voice for Sarabi, Mufasa's mate and Simba's mother, in Disney's animated film *The Lion King* (1994). Her career spanned decades, showcasing her versatility and talent across various genres and formats.
