Biography
Marleen Gorris (born 9 December 1948 in Roermond) is a Dutch writer and director. Known for her feminist perspectives and advocacy for gay and lesbian issues, these themes are often present in her work.
Gorris wrote and directed *A Question of Silence* (1982), *Broken Mirrors* (1984), *The Last Island* (1991), *Antonia's Line* (1995, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film), *Mrs. Dalloway* (1997, based on the novel by Virginia Woolf), and *The Luzhin Defence* (2000, adapted from a novel by Vladimir Nabokov).
She was set to direct *Heaven and Earth*, a film about Dr. James Miranda Barry.
