Masashi Ozawa

Masashi Ozawa (小沢 正志, Ozawa Masashi) is a Japanese retired professional wrestler, best known under the ring name Killer Khan. Billed as a Mongolian giant, he was a part-time member of WWE during the 1980s, where he was known for his high-profile matches with André the Giant. Ozawa's Mongolian persona was created by Karl Gotch. He moved to the United States in 1979 to begin his wrestling career, and in 1980, he wrestled André the Giant in a tag team match for Georgia Championship Wrestling. That same year, he joined WWE. In WWE, Khan initially feuded with WWE Champion Bob Backlund and Intercontinental Champion Pedro Morales before turning his attention to André the Giant. During a match in May 1981, Khan performed a kneedrop from the top turnbuckle, which was kayfabe depicted as causing André to break his ankle. In reality, André had broken his ankle while getting out of bed. The storyline was used to elevate Khan's character. After André recovered, the feud continued into 1982, culminating in a "Mongolian Stretcher match" in November 1981 in Philadelphia, where André defeated Khan. The rivalry was later named Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Feud of the Year. In 1984, Khan wrestled in Stampede Wrestling in Canada, where he defeated Archie "The Stomper" Gouldie in a street fight to win the Stampede North American Heavyweight Championship. He lost the title to The Dynamite Kid in March of the same year. Khan returned to WWE in 1987 under the management of Mr. Fuji, where he feuded with Outback Jack and had a limited house show run challenging WWE Champion Hulk Hogan. He also had successful stints in Mid-South Wrestling and NWA World Class Championship Wrestling, often managed by Skandar Akbar. In WCCW, he briefly teamed with the Freebirds, during which he taught Terry Gordy the Oriental Spike, before turning on Gordy under Akbar's direction. Khan had a minor role as a bodyguard in the film *3 Ninjas Kick Back* and a cameo in the 2006 Japanese special effects action series *Lion-Maru G*. He currently owns a restaurant in Tokyo, Japan, and is married to Cindy Ozawa of Lutz, Florida, though they live on separate continents. He has three children—Yukie, Yoshiko, and David Masato—all of whom reside in the United States. On December 9, 2020, around 5:00 PM, Khan was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Tokyo's Hyakunincho area, where he allegedly struck a woman riding a bicycle and fled the scene. The woman suffered a broken tooth and other injuries that took about a month to heal. Khan later apologized, stating he was in a hurry to reach his restaurant. He was not charged or prosecuted for the incident.
