Michael Standing

Michael Standing was a British actor and writer known for his role in the 1969 film *The Italian Job*, in which he delivered the memorable line "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" spoken by Michael Caine. He also appeared in both the 1965 TV play and 1968 film versions of *Up The Junction*, portraying different characters in each, as well as in *Poor Cow*. His final acting role was in the 1990 film *Aftershock*. As a writer, Standing contributed to television, including the 1967 *Wednesday Play* *Another Day, Another Dollar* and episodes of *Marked Personal* from 1973 to 1974. He later moved to the United States, where he married Sherri Spillane, the former wife of novelist Mickey Spillane.
