Biography

Milorad Petrović was a high-ranking officer in the Royal Yugoslav Army, recognized for his leadership during World War II. He commanded the 1st Army Group during the Axis invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941. Petrović's military career began with his commission into the Royal Serbian Army in 1901. He held various staff roles during the Balkan Wars and World War I, participating in the Serbian Campaign and later the Macedonian front. In the interwar period, he was involved in military operations along Yugoslavia's northern border and held significant positions at the Ministry of the Army and Navy. He was promoted to the rank of army general in 1937 and, at the time of the 1941 coup d'état in Yugoslavia, was the military commander of Belgrade.
