Biography

Miriam T. Stark is an American archaeologist specializing in Southeast Asian archaeology. She is a professor at the University of Hawai’i-Manoa, a position she has held since 1995. Stark received her B.A. from the University of Michigan and later earned her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Her academic and fieldwork experience spans North America, the Near East, and Southeast Asia. She has co-directed the Lower Mekong Archaeological Project (LOMAP) in southern Cambodia for 12 years. Her research focuses on political economy and the processes of state formation.
