Biography
Nadav Lapid is an Israeli filmmaker and writer who initially worked as a sports journalist before transitioning to film. While attending film school, he directed three short films. In 2008, he was selected to participate in the Résidence of the Cinéfondation at the Cannes Film Festival, where he wrote the screenplay for his first full-length feature, *Policeman*. The film, shot two years later, follows Yaron, a member of an Israeli anti-terrorist unit, as he confronts a group of young far-left radicals. In 2013, Lapid wrote and directed *The Kindergarden Teacher*, which premiered in a special screening at the 2014 Cannes International Critics' Week. The film stars Sarit Larry as Nira, a school teacher who becomes fascinated by a five-year-old boy with an extraordinary talent for writing poetry and decides to help him develop his gift at any cost. Through his work, Nadav Lapid provides a distinctive perspective on Israeli society, portraying characters who navigate the intersection of public and private life, where political and personal concerns converge.
