Nathan Larson(I)

Nathan Larson began his career in the hardcore punk scene in Washington D.C., playing in influential bands such as Swiz. In 1988, he moved to New York City, and during the 1990s, he served as lead guitarist for the prog-punk band Shudder To Think. Larson works as a producer, performer, and writer of both music and prose, though he is primarily known for composing film scores. His first solo composition was for the film *Boys Don't Cry*, while Shudder To Think provided the score for *High Art* and contributed songs to Todd Haynes' *Velvet Goldmine* before that. In 2000, Larson recorded a solo album in London with producers Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley, known for their work with Madness and Elvis Costello. Recent musical projects include A Camp, a collaboration with his wife Nina Persson. As a producer, he has worked on James Iha's second solo album and The Citizen's Band. In 2005, Commotion Records released *Filmmusik*, a compilation of Larson's work. He is also a published author; his first novel, *The Dewey Decimal System*, was released in May 2011 by Akashic Books, followed by *The Nervous System* in the summer of 2012. Larson resides in Harlem, New York City, with his wife and son Nils Oskar, and the family also keeps a home in Persson's native Sweden.
