Biography
Neal Cassady was a prominent figure of the Beat Generation in the 1950s and played a significant role in the psychedelic and counterculture movements of the 1960s. He served as the inspiration for the character Dean Moriarty in the 1957 version of Jack Kerouac's novel *On the Road*. In several of Kerouac's later works, Cassady is depicted through the character Cody Pomeray. Cassady also appears in poems by Allen Ginsberg and in various other literary works by other authors.
