Biography

Paola Velez is a pastry chef and social justice activist known for her work at restaurants such as Milk Bar and Maydan in Washington, D.C. In addition to her culinary career, she co-founded Bakers Against Racism, an organization that uses baking as a platform to address issues of racial injustice. In 2020, she also launched the donut pop-up shop Doña Dona, which highlights Latin American flavors and supports community-driven initiatives.
