Biography
*Barney & Friends* is an American children's television series created by Sheryl Leach, designed for preschoolers aged 2 to 5. The show centers around Barney, an anthropomorphic purple Tyrannosaurus rex who teaches educational concepts through songs, dances, and a cheerful, huggable personality. It originally aired on PBS through the PBS Kids block from April 6, 1992, to November 2, 2010, and later had reruns on Sprout from 2005 to 2015, and on Universal Kids from 2018 to 2020. Although a revival was announced in 2015 for a 2017 premiere, it did not materialize. A CGI-animated reboot, *Barney's World*, premiered on Cartoon Network's Cartoonito on October 18, 2024, and was also available on HBO Max from October 14, 2024.
