Biography
Philip John is a Welsh writer and director who has received multiple awards. He was previously a bass player in the DIY punk band Reptile Ranch. He left the music industry after an unsuccessful busking trip to Paris with a nine-piece rhythm and kazoo group performing Motown songs. His postgraduate short film *Suckerfish* was nominated for a BAFTA. He also received two BAFTA Best Director nominations for his work on the UK series *Being Human*. Philip is known for his work on *Downton Abbey* (2013–15), *Outlander* (2016), and the comedy *Wedding Belles* (2007), written by Irvine Welsh and Dean Cavanagh. His film *Moon Dogs* premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2016 to full audiences and positive reception, earning the Best of the Fest award. *Moon Dogs* also won Best International First Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh that same year.
