Biography

Ranganathan Madhavan is an Indian actor, screenwriter, film producer, and director known for his work in Tamil and Hindi cinema. With a career spanning over 70 films, he has received critical acclaim and numerous awards, including one National Film Award, five Filmfare Awards South, two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and five SIIMA Awards. Madhavan was honored with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2026 for his contributions to the arts. In addition to his acting and producing endeavors, he has also taken on leadership roles in the film industry, serving as the President of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune since September 2023.
