Biography

Régis Outin was born on June 4, 1908, in Montbrison, in the Loire region of France. Drawn to the performing arts from an early age, he trained in theater and pursued a career that included both stage and screen work. A versatile actor, he performed in both classical and contemporary plays, collaborating with notable directors such as Jean-Louis Barrault and Roger Blin. On stage, he interpreted works by Claudel, Ionesco, Shakespeare, and Giraudoux, developing a style that was both grounded and expressive. In the 1970s, he appeared on television, including in the historical series *Schulmeister, l'espion de l'empereur* (*Schulmeister, the Emperor's Spy*) and *Les Rois maudits* (*The Accursed Kings*). Although his film appearances were fewer than his stage roles, they left a lasting impression of an actor deeply immersed in his characters. In the later years of his life, he relocated to Chile, where he died on October 25, 1987, in Las Condes. His career reflected a deep commitment to language and performance, across a wide range of demanding works.
