Biography
Sir Reginald Carey Harrison, known professionally as Rex Harrison, was an English actor who began his career on the stage at the Liverpool Playhouse in 1924. He made his West End debut in 1936 with the Terence Rattigan play *French Without Tears*, a role that marked his breakthrough. Harrison later won his first Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for his portrayal of Henry VIII in the Broadway production *Anne of the Thousand Days* in 1949. He returned to Broadway in 1956 as Professor Henry Higgins in *My Fair Lady*, for which he received the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
