Biography

Susan Eloise Hinton is an American writer known for her young-adult novels, particularly *The Outsiders* (1967), which she wrote while still in high school. Set in Oklahoma, the novel explores themes of social division and adolescence, and is credited with helping to establish the young-adult genre. Hinton continued to write several other novels that resonated with young readers, often drawing on her own experiences growing up in the Midwest. She later graduated from the University of Tulsa, furthering her academic and literary pursuits.
