Biography

Sajid Khan was an Indian actor and singer who was born into poverty in the Bombay slums. He was adopted by Bollywood filmmaker Mehboob Khan, founder of Mehboob Studios. Khan made his film debut in his father's Academy Award-nominated film *Mother India* (1957) and later appeared in its sequel *Son of India* (1962). Seeking broader opportunities, he transitioned to international productions, gaining recognition in North America, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom. He appeared in films such as *Maya* (1966) and its television adaptation, becoming a teen idol in North America and the Philippines during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
