Shinya Tsukamoto

Shinya Tsukamoto is a Japanese filmmaker and actor associated with the body horror and cyberpunk genres. He achieved international attention for his 1989 film *Tetsuo: The Iron Man*, which is considered a key example of the Japanese cyberpunk movement. The film was later accompanied by two additional works: *Tetsuo II: Body Hammer* (1992) and *Tetsuo: The Bullet Man* (2009). Tsukamoto has directed several other films, including *Tokyo Fist* (1995), *Bullet Ballet* (1998), *A Snake of June* (2002), *Vital* (2004), *Kotoko* (2011), and *Killing* (2018). His films frequently incorporate surreal imagery, philosophical themes, and a unique style that has cultivated a devoted cult audience both in Japan and internationally.
