Biography

Shonda Lynn Rhimes is an American television producer, screenwriter, and founder of the production company Shondaland. She gained prominence as the first showrunner of the medical drama *Grey's Anatomy*, which aired from 2005 to the present. Rhimes also created *Private Practice*, a spin-off of *Grey's Anatomy*, which ran from 2007 to 2013, and *Scandal*, a political thriller that aired from 2012 to 2018. Rhimes made history as the first African American female showrunner to create three television dramas that have each reached the 100-episode milestone.
