Biography
Spencer Proffer has been at the forefront of successful and inventive multimedia projects for years. Throughout an extensive entertainment career, he has consistently broken new ground with pioneering work on both creative and business fronts. As a marketing and media architect with an anchor in how music plays an organic role in various platforms, he has created and then implemented numerous initiatives on behalf of major television networks, advertising agencies, online, record, and motion picture companies. He also has a meaningful history of producing socially conscious events and enterprises which have both charitable as well as commercial components. As a content creator/producer, Spencer has had a long history of connecting with audiences. His productions have garnered Academy, Golden Globe, Emmy, Grammy and Tony awards and nominations, and as music producer, he has sold millions of gold and platinum records with a myriad of successful artistes. He has used his skills and career to make a difference in utilizing media to do good for the world while making money. Proffer's accomplishments date back to when he was 26 years old and put Tina Turner into the feature adaptation of The Who's Tommy. He produced and played guitar on her acclaimed Acid Queen solo album. Spencer was a Co-Executive Producer on the Academy and Golden Globe winning film, "Gods & Monsters". He worked with Stevie Wonder, co-producing and arranging 3 songs for New Line's live action Pinocchio feature, one track of which garnered a 1997 Grammy nomination. He produced and co-wrote the music for HBO's award winning multi cultural series, Happily Ever After while being a producer and cast album producer/arranger/mixer on the 4 time Tony nominated Broadway show 'It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues" (cast album featuring BB King, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Andrae Crouch Choir and Randy Jackson). He also served as an Executive Producer on the two time, Primetime Emmy Nominated Special, "Robbie Robertson: Going Home" as well as teamed up with Quincy Jones and Doc McGhee to produced Rockin' The Corps for the U.S. Marine Corps, headlined by Beyonce and KISS. Amongst other notable accomplishments, Spencer has served as a Supervising Music Producer on over 131 films and television programs and produced/executive produced 33 film and broadcast events to date. In addition to a current, formidable slate of commercial production endeavors (John Coltrane authorized feature documentary; Stand By Me '25; The T.A.M.I. SHOW re-imagined for 2026; Jimi Hendrix: The Unplugged Experience music project, American Pie; Reinventing Elvis; Lamont Dozier; Stephen Schwartz/Defying Gravity; All I Have To Do Is Dream: The Pioneers of Nashville; Forever Hollywood; and Sonic Messengers documentaries; Vincent (Starry, Starry Night), American Pie, The Fable; Elvis -The Making of the '68 Comeback Special; Graham Nash's Our House, Patsy Cline's Walkin' After Midnight; and Broadway Baby books). He is also producing a number of important inspirational, faith based and charitable enterprises.
