Biography

Stacey Yvonne Abrams is an American politician, lawyer, voting rights activist, and author who represented Georgia in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017, serving as minority leader from 2011 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, Abrams established Fair Fight Action in 2018 to address voter suppression. Her efforts have been linked to a notable rise in voter turnout in Georgia, including during the 2020 presidential election, in which Joe Biden won the state by a narrow margin, and in Georgia's 2020–21 regularly scheduled and special U.S. Senate elections, which led to Democrats securing control of the Senate.
