Biography

Stephen Robert Herek (born November 10, 1958) is an American film director. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, and attended the University of Texas at Austin. His career as a film director began in 1986 with *Critters*, followed by *Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure* in 1989, in which he worked with Keanu Reeves. He directed *Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead* in 1991, *The Mighty Ducks* in 1992, *The Three Musketeers* in 1993, *Mr. Holland's Opus* in 1995, and *101 Dalmatians* in 1996.

In 2001, Herek directed *Rock Star*, a film about a rockstar wannabe and the evolution of a fictional rock group, Steel Dragon, which mirrors that of Judas Priest. The film starred Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston and was produced by George Clooney.
